The Ensign Joshua “Kayleb” Watson, United States Navy Gold Star Memorial Scholarship is awarded in honor of Ensign Watson was mortally wounded during the 6 December 2019 terrorist attack on NAS Pensacola.
Each Scholarship winner will receive $1000.00. To apply for the scholarships, applicants must write a 500 word essay on the topic of “What it means to be an American.” Applicants must be enrolled in UWF and be classified as U.S. Navy Active Duty, Reserve Sailors, or Veterans. Completed essays can be turned into the Office of Military Services/ AWKO Center For Leadership at Bldg. 77 or uploaded in the Portal no later than September 2, 2026. Scholarships will be awarded on September 17, 2026.
