E Ortiz & J Smykla Criminal Justice Scholarship

This award is for graduate students who are in the department of Criminology, Criminal Justice & Legal studies. Students must maintain a UWF GPA of ay least 3.5. Awards may also be given to undergraduate students who are in the College of Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities. Students must be majoring in Criminal Justice. Undergraduate students must also maintain a GPA of 3.5 or higher.

In addition to the above students must submit an essay that: 1. Defines what diversity means to you, 2. Relates the importance of diversity to the criminal justice system and 3. Includes a well-rounded argument including, where appropriate, one’s own experience, empirical data, and theoretical perspectives.
