Butch and Sharon Seabrook

I am a Pensacola native and a UWF alumni, class of 1972. I retired from UWF as a mainframe computer programmer in 2012 after 40 years of service.

Impact

I have been giving to UWF Athletics for well over 30 years. I have supported a lot of different sports, but realize that they were all male sports. With football starting up, I was able to get in on the ground floor in order to help build a program that has taken off like no one imagined. With several of my football pledges coming to an end, I asked Sierra Hansen, my go to person in athletics, if there was a pressing need that I could support.

Having been a star Volleyball player at UWF, she immediately directed me to the Coach Melissa Wolter endowment. The endowment had been started a few years back and was a little over half way funded. Sierra told me that if the endowment was not completed soon, the money would be redistributed within Athletics. Nope, that was not going to happen. Sharon and I were eager to provide support to an endowment that would help a female student attend UWF and play Volleyball. College is expensive and every little bit helps. We particularly like the fact that the Foundation will invest the funds and the available academic aid will grow year by year.

When I first met Melissa we had an instant bond and connection. It just felt right! She is a fantastic coach who believes 110% in her team and her coaching abilities. Just look at the banners in the field house… She rightly deserves to have an endowment in her name. The people who started the endowment years ago are very glad that it will be completed. I am so proud to have a part in making her much deserved endowment a reality.
